As remote work and modern living turn us into indoor-dwelling creatures, Bujnie wants to reconnect us with nature. The company brings greenery back into homes, buildings, and cities.
“We believe that the minimalist and timeless design encourages the introduction of greenery to the interior and helps in its aesthetic organization,” says Szymon Serej, CEO of Bujnie.
Bujnie’s merchandise is visually pleasing — its sales rely on the customer's ability to see the product. The company shows its accessories on Instagram to reach a broader audience.
After talking to customers, Bujnie discovered that — despite the visual exposure on social media and company website — pictures weren’t always sufficient for people to understand the dimensions of Bujnie’s products. The customers also struggled to visualize how the accessories would look in their spaces.
“I needed something that would let the client see the product directly in their space. This is important because the customers actually asked about the dimensions and whether a specific accessory would fit into the designated space,” says Szymon.
We contacted Bujnie entirely by accident — ironically, Paulina, our product owner, had to return her plant stand. She misjudged the dimensions, and the stand didn't fit.
During the return process, Paulina told the owners it would help to give customers a way to try out the products in their space using augmented reality. Potentially, this could decrease the number of returns in the future.
Bujnie expressed interest in the idea. At the time, however, Bujnie’s experience with augmented reality wasn’t entirely positive. The AR the owners knew didn’t let users align the plant stands and hangers to the walls and floors at the correct angles. This impacted the viewing experience because the models heavily diverged from reality.
But the augmented reality solution that Bujnie was familiar with was faulty — it didn’t reflect the actual state of AR technology.

At nomtek, we had been following and experimenting with new solutions in augmented reality ever since the technology was introduced in 2017. We knew how to help Bujnie showcase its products in their customers’ space and do it in a visually pleasing and convincing way.
As an experiment, we asked Bujnie to send us some of its models. After running the model through our AR-rendering engine, we showcased our work. The model correctly arranged itself in the designated space, meeting the main requirement.

The experimental 3D model of the plant hanger had real-life dimensions and high-quality details.
“When I saw my product in AR, I instantly discovered many opportunities. They just jumped into my head. The moment I saw the model, with such high details and in a 1:1 ratio, I realized how important AR was for my business,” says Szymon.
What started as an experiment, soon evolved into a long-term partnership. We started converting the remaining models from Bujnie’s catalog and integrating the “see in your space” feature under product descriptions.
New furniture is exciting — it’s a promise of a fresh perspective. But as commerce slowly shifts toward online sales, more people become frustrated they can’t see merchandise in their space. Because let’s face it, how often is your online purchase a bad one that you have to return? Or how often do you want to buy something but can’t find the time to go to the store and experience the product?
Refined.ar offers benefits that go beyond supporting Bujnie’s sales. For example, architects partnering with Bujnie can use augmented reality to create living spaces that leverage plant accessories to create green indoor environments.
“It’s a great marketing vehicle and promotional tool for architects to present to clients during showcases. Architects can more effectively arrange spaces by showing their interior designs with Bujnie’s stands and hangers,” says Szymon.
But what was especially important to Bujnie is making the purchase process and decision easier and more convenient for the customer. Bujnie wanted to build a deep understanding of its offer in the customer’s mind.
“It’s one of the tools that lets us better adjust to customer expectations and needs. Customers convert better because they see specifically how a product will look in their space. AR also decreases the number and cost of returns, especially in online stores that deal with their high values,” says Szymon.

“With my feedback, I have an impact on the development of the tool. I actively promote the solution because I believe in the mission. I feel that we work together, exploring innovation in terms of e-commerce. We collaborate and brainstorm on ideas that help Bujnie leverage the power of augmented reality even more,” Szymon sums up.
